High Court judge of Mombasa has ordered Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to immediately reopen pastor Ezekiel’s New Life International Church. The church was closed on Thursday 27, April 2023 following the pastor’s arrest.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 3 May, the Mombasa High Court asked the National Police Service (NPS) to allow the church commence its operations without further delays.
This follows petitions filed by Ezekiel’s lawyers; Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombetta, accusing the government of infringing into the rights of faithfuls to worship.
Pastor Ezekiel’s church was closed indefinitely after the man of God was arrested and charged with indoctrination, terrorism, mass killings among others. The pastor has also been linked to the ongoing Shakahola massacre that has since then, left nationwide followers and non-followers wallowing into a pool of surprise.
