Catholic’s Pope Francis has passed away at the age of 88 years today while receiving medication at his residence in Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican.
Following a long period of illness, the Pope was then admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome diagnosed with severe pneumonia affecting both lungs.
During his 12-year papacy, the anointed man of God preached compassion for the poor and oppressed. He also reformed the Vatican bureaucracy as well as condemning various war in different parts of the world, calling upon the people to embrace peace and unity.
He led the Catholic Church for over a decade, known for his focus on humility, climate justice, and reform becoming the first Latin American pontiff.
