Babu Owino Alleges Assault by Robert Alai at Nairobi Restaurant

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has narrated an incident in which he claims he was attacked by Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai at Cedars Restaurant along Lenana Road on Saturday night, January 3, 2026.According to the MP, the confrontation occurred while he was at the restaurant for a private engagement.

Owino alleges that an exchange between the two escalated into a physical altercation, leaving him shaken by the incident. He said the matter was unexpected and has raised concerns about the conduct of leaders in public spaces.Babu Owino further stated that he reported the incident to the police and is considering pursuing legal action, noting that such confrontations undermine public confidence in elected leaders and could endanger innocent members of the public.

He called for calm and urged authorities to independently investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.At the time of publishing, Robert Alai had not issued a detailed public response to the allegations.

Police are yet to release an official statement confirming whether investigations have been opened or whether any arrests have been made.The incident has sparked debate on social media, with Kenyans calling for restraint among political leaders and emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence and respect for the rule of law, regardless of political differences.
