Francis Atwoli On Why He Married His Young Wife Mary Kilobi

Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli married journalist Mary Kilobi back in 2018.

The decision did not sit well with one of his wives,an incident that caused a buzz online.

As it is known of Atwoli,he never misses to crack ribs whenever an opportunity knocks.

During Labour Day celebrations in Nairobi on Monday May 1,Atwoli hilariously spoke about the key roles his younger wife Mary plays in his life.

The COTU boss,73, noted that at his age, he needed a person to help keep him on the radar adding that Mary helps run his affairs properly.

According to Atwoli, Mary Kilobi who is half his age, can protect his wealth and also take care of his health.

“I am getting old and my wife is young.Mary’s job is to check whether I have worn my socks properly and if my shirt is well-ironed. The right time for me to take medicine, she reminds me,” Atwoli said amid laughter from Kenyans.

He further stated that his wife keeps all his documents in check explaining that if he hired a personal assistant, they would steal from him.

“If I employ someone else as my personal assistant, they will steal from us. If I want to go abroad, Mary makes sure I am not late and the tickets are okay. That is Mary’s work,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli also asked workers to snub the planned Azimio demonstrations and called for the government to hold talks with the Opposition to bring to an end the political stalemate.
