A family protection measure has been filed to Parliament by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.
The legislation aims to make homosexuality, same-sex unions, and LGBTQ activities illegal. In a statement, Kaluma warned that if the measure becomes law, it will make it illegal to promote, recruit, and support Gay people.
“The Family Protection Bill has been delivered to the National Assembly. It aims to outlaw comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in primary, secondary, and higher education curricula “said he.
Kaluma aims to outlaw rights to, and instruction on, sexual health. If the law is approved, it will protect the guardians’ and parents’ prior rights to direct their children’s education. It will reaffirm parents’ rights to information and consent about sexual education for minors and abortion procedures. The definition of sex in the bill, according to Kaluma, is the biological condition of being male or female as observed and ascribed at birth.
Additionally, the MP wants the state to restrict homosexual inmates’ access to employment opportunities in childcare facilities as well as their freedoms of association, expression, and belief. The bill also outlaws homosexual adoption and forbids performing sex activities on animals.
The lawmaker claimed that, if passed, the new Act would include penalties ranging from death to at least ten years in prison.
Since then, Kaluma has continued to hold that homosexuality should be criminalized because it is forbidden in Kenya.
