Raila Odinga Denies Benefiting From Gen Z Demonstrations

ODM leader Raila Odinga has denied allegations that he benefited from the Gen Z demonstrations.

Back in June, the young generations took to the streets to oppose the then-proposed financial bill 2024. On the eve of the demonstrations, President William Ruto reached out to Raila Odinga and decided to work with him in what they termed an effort to unite the country and broaden the government. In exchange for working together, Raila was allocated slots in the government ministry positions, and he was also nominated as the candidate for AU chairman.

Speaking on the allegations, Raila Odinga has strongly denied the stories he benefitted from the emonstrations. “I am not a beneficiary of the Gen Z protests. It has been a useless allegation made in the media. What happened was that Ruto said he wanted to be involved and allow a larger society into governance and asked if we could give him some people in our party. I consulted with my colleagues in the Azimio Coalition. Some were ready, and some were not.” He said.
