Esther Akoth, famously known as Akothee has warned against attending functions in her home county, saying her safety is threatened by a section of people who don’t mean well for her.
Issuing a public statement via social social media, the mother of five stated that she has decided to abstain from going to events in Migori county during this festive season, as a way to protect herself as well as the brand.
“I would like to let everyone know that I will no longer be attending functions in Migori County due to security concerns and to protect myself and my brand,” read the first paragraph of her long statement.
According to Akothee, she has been posed as a threat to a section of individuals, with majority being the political class, who are the enemies of her voluntary support to her community.
“Since returning to Migori County back in 2022 to build and give back to her community, Akothee claims I have unfortunately posed as a threat to many individuals, most of whom are politicians. On several occasions, I have been mistreated and humiliated by people I know and others unknown to me.” She added.
She has further revealed dire mistreatment that her team has oftentimes gone through whenever she attends a public function or any event involving politicians in her home county.
“My team often has to struggle just to secure a place for me to sit, even at functions where I have been invited. Some security personnel will pretend to assist my team, claiming to be from the county’s protocol…They will lead me to the front where they know there are no seats,” she continued.
She has poured praises and gratitude to Her Excellency Mama Dorothy Nyong’o, for her continued support ensuring she is always safe whenever she attends public events involving political class.
However, she has maintained has stance that she has no interest in joining national politics emphasizing that she has some important errands to run aside from dwelling in politics. Moreover, she stated that she cannot completely rule it out for she believes the constitution gives her all the rights to run for any political seat if she holds interest.
“I am focused on pursuing my legacy, which has nothing to do with politics. But with the way you people are pushing me, I might just wake up one day and declare.”
