Kenyans Confront Kenya Kwanza Leaders in A Heated Twitter Space

Kenyans have taken a strong stance against Kenya Kwanza government’s support of the finance bill, which proposes increased taxes for its citizens.

This controversy unfolded during a Twitter Space event named “Good Morning Kenya: Where is Crazy Nairobian?” hosted by Osama Otero, attracting over 50,000 participants.

During the discussion, tough questions were directed at Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen regarding the recent arrest of popular social media influencer Crazy Nairobian. The engagement reached such a level that even President William Ruto joined, sparking intense reactions from the audience. Murkomen expressed his willingness to ensure certain actions but was interrupted, leading the discussion back to the finance bill.

Participants in the online space expressed their determination to continue protesting against the finance bill, scheduling a march for the following Tuesday. They urged others to persist in pressuring leadership to completely abandon the bill. Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot also faced criticism from attendees, who questioned the government’s insistence on passing the bill despite public opposition.

The online event highlighted deep-seated frustrations among Kenyans concerning the finance bill and broader governance issues, setting the stage for further public outcry and potential mobilization.
