The urgent transfer of KEBS, KRA, and immigration officials at the Isebania border crossing in Migori county has been demanded by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
Additionally, the CS transferred every police officer from the Isebania police station while implying that they would face disciplinary action.
Kindiki stated that implicated personnel will face harsh punishment for either failing to take action or actively encouraging smuggling of commodities across the border, which contributes to an increase in local instability.

The CS stated that the officers to be stationed at the border will be held personally accountable for any transgressions in order to deal with the phony goods and items dodging taxes at the border.
He declared that it will become standard practice to fire cops who are thought to be complicit in crimes, aiding them, or simply napping on the job.
Rogue police officers will henceforth be dealt with firmly to prevent impunity and abuse of power.
I must state that the time has come for the nation to choose between keeping rogue police and getting rid of them, he added.
He also addressed instances of mob justice in the area, when locals have been using force against each other in reaction to cases of alleged insecurity, imploring people to abide by the law.
“Ningependa kuwaomba kama Wakenya wenzangu, lazima tukubali kusuluhisha malalamishi yetu kwa njia ya kikatiba ata yawe machungu namna gani, tusitumie nguvu na silaha butu,” Kindiki remarked.
