Raila’s To The Azimio Rebels: Resign And Seek Office Elsewhere

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has issued a severe warning to the rebellious Azimio leaders.

Speaking on Thursday at Imara Daima, Raila argued that coalition members should continue to support leaders chosen under Azimio.

“It is time for President William Ruto to quit acquiring Azimio leaders. As they were chosen in Azimio, they ought to stay there. We don’t want political prostitution, therefore if they want to go, they should go back to Kenyans and be chosen again “said Raila.

A delegation of Azimio leaders met Ruto at the State House in February and promised to collaborate with him. The meeting was viewed as a component of the President’s plan to deal with the leader of the opposition.

They were Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent), Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

The Lawmakers came under fire for meeting with Ruto and were charged for allegedly breaking party rules. In a letter sent to the party last month, Migori Senator Eddy Oketch requested that the nine lawmakers be expelled and deregistered.

The letter stated that the aforementioned party members had violated the party’s constitution and Section 14A (1) (e) of the Political Parties Act No. 11 of 2012 of the Laws of Kenya on February 7 in a flagrant and haughty manner.

With regard to the expulsion of nine rebel MPs, Raila reversed course after learning that the MPs had written to him to explain their visit to Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

He continued by saying that they have reaffirmed their dedication to the Orange party.
