Raila’s last significant public appearance was on Monday, September 22, when he attended an ODM Parliamentary Group meeting held at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi. Since then, he has skipped several key events, including the awarding of nomination certificates to ODM candidates contesting upcoming by-elections — an activity he has traditionally presided over.

Reports circulating in sections of the media suggest that medical experts have advised the 79-year-old opposition leader to scale down his political engagements and take some time off to rest following a series of back-to-back commitments.
