Uganda Enforce Curfews And Lockdowns To stop The Spread Of Ebola

Uganda placed limits late Saturday on individuals entering or leaving districts hit by Ebola in order to slow the spread of the dangerous hemorrhagic fever.

The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, declared in a televised address that “movements into and out of Mubende and Kasanda regions are barred.”

A curfew will be in effect in the districts from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. local time, according to Museveni.

After it was discovered in the Mubende district of the country’s center, Uganda announced an Ebola outbreak last month.

Museveni reported that 58 cases have been confirmed and 19 deaths have occurred.

In addition, the Ugandan leader stated that health response teams would conduct testing at every funeral in the two districts, regardless of whether it was brought on by Ebola.

All places of religion and amusement, he added, would be shut down.

There have been numerous Ebola epidemics in the landlocked country of East Africa, including one that killed hundreds of people twenty years ago.
