Uber Advances Its Operation Into Four New Towns In Kenya

Uber has announced its expansion into four new towns; Kisumu, Eldoret, Naivasha and Nakuru.

The mobile service provider that allows one to book a car and driver in a similar way to a taxi is currently operating in major towns in Kenya, such as Nairobi and Mombasa helping customers save on trip fares.

The Uber head of East Africa Imran Manji noted that the expansion of the firm’s market to the new regions is to help people travel and discover their city with ease while creating jobs to drivers.

The firm has also introduced two new products; Chap Chap Share that enables one to share a ride with someone else travelling to the same destination. And Uber XL which is set to be effected on September 19 and will accomodate upto 7 people.

New safety features that assure their customers to have confidence while using the platform include Ride Checks which automatically detects if a trip stops for some period due to unprecedented reasons which will prompt a check from Uber if the rider and the driver are okay and in case both are unresponsive, they will alert for an emergency from security officers or look for an alternative help.

“We are committed to East Africa, a key contributor to the growth of our business in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are passionate about helping people travel and discover their city with ease and helping drivers increase earning opportunities,” said Uber Head of East Africa Imran Manji.
