What is the Great Migration?

April – June: Around this time, travellers who would like to visit the Central & Western Serengeti must brace to experience massive herds move north, crossing rivers and grasslands. This is a great time to see huge columns of animals on the march.
July – September (Northern Serengeti & Maasai Mara): The most dramatic stage especially at the Mara River crossings. Wildebeest plunge into crocodile-filled waters while predators wait on the other side.
October – November (Maasai Mara back to Serengeti): Herds gradually head south, completing the cycle.
