“Story Za Jaba,” Netizens Slam Karen Nyamu After Her Remarks On Kenya’s Economic State After Three Years

Nominated senator Karen Nyamu has faced critics from angry netizens after defending President William Ruto’s agendas amidst high cost of living.

Referring to the president as “Zakayo”, Nyamu shared Ruto’s snap as he boarded a plane to undisclosed destination. The politician praised the president as she confirmed to her followers that everything in Kenya will be in it’s place after a span of three years.

“Zakayo himuselef. Saa hii tunapiga nduru, but 3 years to come we shall sing “Jehova you have done Kenya well”. Si me ndo nakushow ?”, the nominated senator captioned.

As expected, the post faced a lot of backlash from hungry and angry netizens as most of them refered to Nyamu’s opinion as ” story za jaba.” This is a common phrase used by Kenyans when referring to opinions and remarks which are believed to be unrealistic. Here are some of the reactions:

Phoebe Mwangi termed Nyamu’s opinion as ” risto za jaba”.

Mpress Chelsea stated: story za jaba… Si me ndio nakushow pia.

Prince Mwas said: hot air..we don’t trust Zakayo.

Mwangi Ndiritu indicated that the situation in the country has turned worse.

Eric Mboya stated that the “hustlers” who voted in President Ruto aren’t happy and the mother of three should stop giving people imaginary hopes.

Kenyans have turned wild against the government due to the current economic crisis which is affecting almost every one in the country. The high cost of living and introduction of Finance Bill 2023 which is set to introduce new tax policies to citizens has made the situation even worse and unbearable. For this reason, Kenyans have nicknamed President Ruto as “Zakayo” in reference to the biblical story of Zacchaeus the tax collector.
