State To Provide Discounted Fertilizer To More Than 200,000 Farmers In Homa Bay

In Homa Bay, the state aims to register more than 200,000 farmers as recipients of subsidised fertilizer.

After the digital registration process is complete, President William Ruto is anticipated to launch the distribution of agriculture supplies in the following two weeks. The training of national government administration officials (NGAOs), including chiefs and assistant chiefs, was the first step in the registration procedure, which is slated to last five days throughout the 40 wards of Homa Bay county.

Tablets have already been provided to chiefs and assistant chiefs, who will utilize them for the exercise. Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga and County Commissioner Moses Lilan were present for the training session when the administrators learned how to input data onto electronic devices. The administrator will be forced to write down the same data that they have been given on paper before it is entered into the system (Open Data Kit).

They will gather details from farmers who will benefit from the fertiliser, such as their name, ID number, location, the name of the farm, and the location of the closest trading center. In order to be held accountable, administrators must also record their knowledge on paper.

The Open Data Kit (ODK) information will be sent to the national center, which will oversee fertiliser delivery. On Saturday, Lilan said that the government had picked dealers who would be given the farm supplies to distribute to farmers while training was taking place at Kabunde Social Hall in the Homa Bay Town constituency.
