Senator Hezena Lemaletian Claims Life in Danger, Blames Powerful Samburu Family

Nairobi — ODM Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian has come forward with serious allegations, claiming her life is in danger due to threats from a politically influential family in Samburu County and their associates.

In a strongly worded statement, Lemaletian asserted that should anything happen to her, one specific Samburu family and their political allies should be held accountable. “To my friends and relatives: If anything happens to me, one family in Samburu and its allies in the political class should be blamed,” she said.

The Senator revealed that the same family allegedly threatened her late father years ago and is now targeting her. She accused the family of disrupting her engagement, spreading false claims about her on social media, and being behind the threats she currently faces.

“After miserably failing an attempt on my late father… they are now after me,” she stated, linking the threats to internal clan supremacy disputes.

Lemaletian noted that she has submitted evidence of the threats to authorities and remains committed to seeking justice. “I have left the records of who these people are with the relevant authorities,” she added.

The Senator recently broke off her engagement, which had taken place during a high-profile traditional ceremony in October 2024. On May 16, she publicly clarified that her family had returned the dowry following a detailed background check, as required by Samburu cultural customs.

“Allegations that I was married are false and unfounded… I shall not be married to that person whatsoever,” she declared.

The escalating tensions surrounding the Senator’s personal life and safety have drawn national attention, with many now watching how security and political institutions respond to her claims.
