RUBiSOL Named “Deal of the Year 2024 – East Africa” at DealMakers AFRICA Awards

Solarise Africa and RUBiS Energy Kenya have announced that RUBiSOL, their joint venture focused on renewable energy solutions for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) clients, has been awarded the prestigious “Deal of the Year 2024 – East Africa” by DealMakers AFRICA.

Launched in November 2024, RUBiSOL was created to meet the growing demand for reliable, affordable, and clean energy in East Africa. The joint venture combines Solarise Africa’s expertise in decentralized solar and hybrid energy solutions with RUBiS Energy Kenya’s infrastructure and extensive market presence. It enables businesses to transition from fossil fuels to more sustainable and efficient energy models.

Jan Albert Valk, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarise Africa, highlighted the significance of the award as a testament to their shared vision of reshaping East Africa’s energy landscape. He emphasized RUBiSOL’s role in empowering businesses to adopt clean energy, unlocking energy independence, and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Olivier Sabrié, Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya and CEO of RUBiS Energie East Africa, remarked that the accolade underscores the strength of their partnership and their commitment to accelerating the energy transition. He noted that RUBiSOL is addressing the growing demand for integrated renewable energy solutions, ensuring energy resilience for commercial clients.

The RUBiSOL transaction, noted for its complexity and innovation, involved restructuring the operations of both companies, integrating renewable energy systems into distribution networks, and securing agreements with corporate clients across Africa. It was executed using a hybrid debt-equity model and received approval from the Competition Authority of Kenya and the COMESA Competition Commission.

Advised by ENS, this landmark deal positions RUBiSOL as a key player in advancing Africa’s clean energy future
