Report: Murang’a Women Have The Most Sexual Partners

Women from Murang’a County are more likely to have more than two sexual partners, according to a recent survey.

According to the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) 2022, which was issued on Tuesday by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Murang’a is in the lead among counties having many sexual partners, with 11%. Busia was second with 6.2 percent, followed by Kericho county with 6.5 percent.

According to the study, “among those with more than one partner in the past 12 months, 24% of women and 45% of males reported using a condom during their last sexual encounter.” 19% of women reported having sex in the year before to the poll with someone who was neither their husband nor a household member.

About 37% of these women admitted to wearing a condom when they had their most recent sex with one of these partners.

It continued, “35% of men reported having sex in the previous 12 months with a person who was neither their wife nor a roommate, and 68% of these men reported wearing a condom during their most recent sexual encounter with such a partner.

The likelihood of having more than two sexual partners was shown to be higher among divorcees and bereaved Kenyans.

6.9% of the women who acknowledged having had more than two sexual partners in the previous year were either divorced, separated, or widowed. Others, 4.3%, had never been married, while 2.2% of those were already married.

According to the study, 26.7% of men who had more than two sexual partners in the previous year are either divorced, widowed, or separated.

Never-married people made up 13.8% of the population, while married people or people living together with their spouses made up 15%. The 2022 KDHS data collection period ran from February 17 to July 13, 2022.
