Massmart and Walmart have announced their first Africa-focused supplier Growth Summit, planned to take place on April 2, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. This follows the model of Walmart’s successful similar events in other markets like Chile.
The summit bears huge significance as it aims to not only broaden but to also strengthen Massmart’s Africa-based supplier network for its retail chains, with participation open to prospective suppliers and entrepreneurs from across the continent, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, and Namibia.

This summit is uniquely designed in a manner that it offers opportunities for both potential suppliers and buyers to directly interconnect responsibly for their product categories, overcoming a common retail industry challenge.
That means, the event will include networking opportunities with senior executives, workshops on supplier best practices, and guidance on building commercial relationships, with an underlying goal of providing participants clear pathways to business growth with Massmart while stimulating socio-economic development through increased economic investment and job opportunities in local Communities.
