The Nairobi County boss said the two centres will be free for all to access and no charges will be levied on Nairobia citizens who wish to visit the parks.

The opening will be after a 13-month closure of the parks to give thrm a new look.Uhuru Park and Central Park were closed to the public in February last year by Nairobi Metropolitan Services.

Sakaja said that the county had just started off on a journey to rehabilitate all recreational centers in the city.

“This is just the beginning, the county is in the process of rehabilating all the parks across the county where our people can rest and enjoy the environment,” Sakaja said on World Tourism Day at City Hall, Nairobi.

Sakaja added that his administration is in the process of reclaiming all social places that had been grabbed and given back their initial use.

“Some scrupulous people have grabbed some of these social amenities areas, we are reclaiming them, improving them and will create new ones to ensure every sub-county has at least a recreational facility,” he said.
