Ecobank Kenya has appointed Mrs. Rebecca M. Mbithi as its new Managing Director, starting February 9, 2026. Her appointment is subject to approval by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
Mbithi has more than 20 years of experience in Kenya’s banking sector. She has worked in senior leadership roles and has been involved in improving performance, guiding strategy, and leading change within organisations.
She takes over from Mrs. Josephine Anan-Ankomah, who has moved to a regional role as Executive for Central, Eastern and Southern Africa (CESA). In her new position, Josephine oversees operations in 17 markets, including Kenya.
Ecobank said Mbithi steps into the role at a time when the bank is focused on growing its services and strengthening its presence in Kenya and across the region. The leadership change signals the bank’s plan to continue building on its progress and expand its impact in the financial sector.
