DIY Remedies Of Menstrual Pains

During the menstrual flow, most women experience abdominal and back pains. This is caused by contraction of the uterine muscles during the menstrual period which results in cramps. The following are some of the home remedies for period pains:

Apply heat on your abdomen.

This can be done using a bottle of hot water. It helps in relaxing the abdominal muscles as well as relieving the contractions. This may also help in back pain.

Exercise.

Engage in physical exercise as it helps in relieving the pain. Do some yoga, gentle stretching, walking, running, breathing exercises, meditation among others.

Massage your abdomen using oil.

Massage your abdomen using massage oils, body lotion, coconut oil or even essential oils for 20 minutes or more.

Drink hot water or take hot water bath.

Hot water helps in relaxing abdominal muscles. Additionally, it reduces contractions in the abdomen since it increases blood flow in the body.

Get enough rest.

Sleeping regularly will help in relieving stress, fatigue and mood swings. These symptoms are usually experienced during menstrual period.

Eat a balanced diet.

Eat food rich in balanced diet like fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Limit intake of alcohol, sugar, salt, chocolate and fat.

Take vitamin supplements.

Increase the intake of vitamin supplements for example calcium, magnesium and vitamin E supplements. They usually helps in relieving the pain.

Hormonal birth controls.

The victim may also opt to take birth control pills, patch, implants among others. However, this remedy requires professional consultation first. Visit the doctor for the best recommendation.

OTC drugs.

Use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs since they help in relieving menstrual cramps. These drugs include ibuprofen.

Ginger.

Drink grated ginger mixed with hot water. This helps in relaxing the abdominal muscle contractions.

One or two of the above remedies will help you in relieving the menstrual pains.
