Bolt, one of the ride-hailing platform in Kenya, has cautioned riders and drivers to refrain from doing offline trips, expressing commitment to ensuring the safety of passengers and drivers on its platform.
Bolt emphasize that rides arranged outside the Bolt app impose unsafe risks for drivers and riders, bypassing Bolt’s in-app safety measures, including trip tracking, identity verification, and emergency support systems.

“At Bolt, safety is our top priority. offine trips undermine the safety features we have in place to protect our users, such as ride check, access to emergency response, and location sharing with loved ones while on trip. We strongly advise drivers and riders to use the Bolt app for all their trips to ensure their safety. By keeping rides within the app, users,” said Hazel May Omune, Safety Manager for Bolt Africa, stressing on the importance of complying to Bolt’s policies enshrined all riders and drivers using the platform.

Share Location, where passengers and drivers can share their real-time location and ride details, Emergency Assist, Emergency Assist button; a feature also notifying Bolt’s safety team, Ride Check and 24/7 Safety Support.
Passengers are encouraged to report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior through the app for prompt investigation.
