Xi Jinping meets with Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan

Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of the Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, and President Xi Jinping met in Riyadh in the afternoon on December 8, 2022, local time.

China and Sudan are close allies and excellent brothers who share happiness and hardship, according to Xi Jinping. China supports all parties in Sudan in moving the political transition forward calmly and constantly through conversation and consultation, and rejects outside meddling in internal Sudanese affairs. China will continue to advocate on behalf of its ally Sudan in forums across the world. China is prepared to collaborate with Sudan to strengthen their friendship and shared trust, resolutely uphold each other’s fundamental interests, intensify their exchanges and collaboration in a variety of areas, and promote the stable and long-term development of their strategic partnership.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China will continue to support Sudan’s development to the best of its ability, conduct cooperation in the oil, mining, agriculture, and other sectors, and encourage capable Chinese businesses to take part in construction projects in Sudan to support Sudan’s economic and social development. China is prepared to collaborate with Sudan and other Arab nations to enhance and broaden their interactions and collaboration in a variety of areas. In order to protect the shared interests of developing nations and global justice and fairness, China is prepared to expand its collaboration with Sudan within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as well as with other multilateral organizations.

Al-Burhan expressed his congratulations on the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) 20th National Congress’s triumph and President Xi Jinping’s re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The Sudanese and Chinese people have a deep and enduring affinity that dates back a long time. Sudan’s national security and stability have always had the unwavering support of China. Al-Burhan expressed deep gratitude to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on behalf of the Sudanese government and the Sudanese citizens. Sudan firmly backs China in defending its fundamental interests and all significant Chinese proposals. Sudan anticipates additional development in its ties with China as well as in ties with other Arab countries.

Wang Yi, He Lifeng, Ding Xuexiang, and Hi Lifeng were present at the event.
