Kenyan health-tech firm Smart Applications International has been named Product and Service Innovation of the Year at the 3i International Conference 2026 held in Mauritius.
The award, presented at the global forum organised by the Insurers Association of Mauritius, recognises the company’s leadership in delivering technology-driven solutions that are transforming healthcare and insurance systems across Africa and beyond.
The conference brought together global industry leaders to examine emerging trends, including the growing role of artificial intelligence, the need for stronger collaboration between insurers and healthcare providers, and the value of integrated digital ecosystems.Smart Applications International was represented by Group Managing Director Harrison Muiru, Group Director of Insurance Business Esther Muiruri, and Mauritius Country Manager Yan Jouan.
The team contributed to discussions on the real-world impact of AI in healthcare and the use of digital platforms to improve efficiency across the insurance value chain.Speaking after receiving the award, Muiru said the recognition affirms the company’s commitment to delivering technology-led transformation, emphasizing the importance of integrated systems in improving efficiency, trust, and collaboration.
Jouan highlighted that resilient healthcare systems depend on both advanced digital infrastructure and local expertise, noting that solutions such as MediSmart and Smart Insure are helping insurers automate processes, reduce costs, and scale sustainably.
