Sasini PLC Appoints Catherine Kawira Bariu as New Company Secretary

Sasini PLC has announced the appointment of Catherine Kawira Bariu as its new Company Secretary, a move aimed at strengthening the company’s corporate governance and compliance functions.

The appointment took effect on May 28, 2026, following the resignation of Millicent Ngetich, who previously served in the role.In a public announcement issued by the Board of Directors, the company thanked Ngetich for her service and contribution during her tenure and wished her success in her future endeavors.Bariu assumes the position with more than a decade of experience in legal affairs, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

She is a Certified Secretary and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, having built a distinguished career across both public and private institutions.Prior to joining Sasini PLC, Bariu served as a legal researcher within the Judiciary, where she supported judicial decision-making through legal analysis, governance oversight, performance monitoring, and institutional compliance frameworks.

Her work contributed to strengthening governance systems and ensuring adherence to established legal standards.Her professional experience also includes providing company secretarial services to corporate clients in private practice.

In those roles, she advised organizations on statutory and regulatory compliance, supported board and committee processes, drafted governance policies, and maintained statutory records and reporting systems.Bariu has additionally served at the Capital Markets Authority in the Market Operations Directorate, where she participated in regulatory inspections, compliance assessments, and risk-based supervision activities designed to promote accountability and transparency in Kenya’s capital markets.

Academically, she holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Governance from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kenyatta University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is also a registered member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries and the Law Society of Kenya.

The Board expressed confidence that Bariu’s extensive expertise in governance, legal practice, and compliance will help advance Sasini PLC’s commitment to strong corporate leadership and sound governance practices. GlebeHer appointment comes as the company continues to pursue growth and operational excellence within the agribusiness sector while maintaining high standards of accountability and regulatory compliance.
