TheAfricanwatch obtained a comment . The Uhuru Kenyatta-led party voted to exclude them for endorsing the beliefs of the UDA Party on Friday, May 5.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Hon. Kanini Kega has ceased to be a member of the Jubilee Party in accordance with Section 14 of the Political Parties Act No. 1 of 2011 as read in conjunction with Article 6 of the Jubilee Party Constitution.
This occurs shortly after Kega called a meeting of the NEC to remove Uhuru from his position as head of the Jubilee party and install Sabina Chege as acting party leader.
According to Kanini Kega, “The National Executive Committee (NEC) has decided that Sabina will serve as the interim party leader until such time as we call a National Delegates Convention (NDC) at which we will elect the leader who will lead the party going forward.”
In an interview with Inooro, Sabina Chege said that they removed Uhuru in an effort to prevent the demise of the previous ruling party.
“He left us at the legislative power-sharing negotiation table. In legislative committees and commissions, Jubilee was not consulted. We sent him texts and phone calls in an effort to get his attention. She said that he never answered.
