Popular Nairobi based car dealer and social media sensation Khalif Kairo has been arrested by DCI sleuths for allegedly defrauding a client.
According to reports and videos circulating online, the aggrieved client reported Kairo for allegedly selling her a car that had an outstanding loan, which was later repossessed at her workplace.
She further states that despite efforts to resolve the issue with Kairo, there has been a cat-and-mouse game between her and the car dealer based in Nairobi.
Kairo had repeatedly assured her that the debt had been settled. After a confrontation with Kairo, vague promises were made to resolve the issue by December 20, but communication ceased after that, leading the buyer to file a police report.
The arrest come as he has faced such tribulation in what social media users claim is shady business. In December 2024, he was detained at Kasarani Police Station in connection with another fraudulent case. Police confirmed he allegedly pocketed millions from a client who had paid for high-end cars that were never delivered. Other complainants later came forward, prompting the authorities to open a case file against him.
Despite these tribulations, Kairo issued a statement saying he would bounce back and build a vast empire, adding that these challenges are part of the journey toward his entrepreneurial success.
“I will build the biggest used car support ecosystem in Africa, and I am willing to pay the ultimate price. There are many, even in my industry, who see us as a threat, and others randomly hate us for no reason. If I give up, I will be betraying the millions of people I inspire,” Kairo tweeted.
The dealer is currently held at Capital Hill Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court on Monday.
