Nairobi Set to Host Landmark Africa Trade Expo in August

Nairobi is poised to become the epicenter of continental commerce as it hosts the inaugural Africa Trade Expo 2025 (ATE2025) from August 8 to 10 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. The three-day event is set to unite more than 200 exhibitors and thousands of buyers, entrepreneurs, and investors from around the globe, offering a dynamic platform to explore East Africa’s fast-growing market.

Organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community through Anjuman e Saifee Nairobi and Umoor Iqtesadiyah Nairobi, the expo is being held under the spiritual guidance of Syedna Aali Qadr Mufaddal Saifuddin Aqa TUS.

It aims to spark cross-border collaborations and highlight the region’s potential across eight major sectors, ranging from real estate and green energy to healthcare, agribusiness, and technology.

“We celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurial independence, where businesses both big and small have the opportunity to break free from limitations, explore new possibilities and build their own success,” said Shabbir A. Nomani, Chairman of the Dawoodi Bohra Community in Kenya.

With strong backing from over 17 major sponsors, including Kenya’s African Quest Safaris, Dubai’s Fakhruddin Properties, and India’s Alvard Global Trade, the expo underscores growing international interest in East Africa’s rising economy.

“Today, we recognise East Africa as one of Africa’s most dynamic and rapidly developing regions,” noted Moiz Hassanali, Project Leader of ATE2025, adding, “with this Expo, we look forward to encouraging entrepreneurs to leverage the region’s young and growing population, wealth of natural resources, and expanding infrastructure for the benefit of their businesses and ultimately the region’s economies.”

Countries such as Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are showing steady GDP growth and cultivating a middle class with increasing purchasing power. Organizers say the region’s strategic location and expanding infrastructure position East Africa as one of the most attractive trade destinations globally.

“The expo is specifically designed to drive business growth by providing direct access to qualified leads from key markets across East Africa and beyond,” Hassanali added.

Beyond exhibitions, the event will offer matchmaking services, panel discussions, deal-making forums, and networking sessions, allowing businesses to secure partnerships and explore new markets. Exhibitors will also benefit from premium facilities, including high-speed WiFi, 24-hour security, and comprehensive support services.

The expo is also a celebration of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s century-old economic legacy in East Africa. Known for embracing innovation and adaptability, the Bohras have played a key role in regional commerce since the 19th century.

“Our heritage is tied to commerce and community building,” said Nomani. “This expo reflects our values and our belief in East Africa’s bright future.”
