Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga has hit out at deputy president Kithure Kindiki for ignoring him.
Kithure Kithindiki, who is the deputy president of Kenya, visited Nyeri early this week, where he chaired a SHA registration exercise in the county. However, he did not invite Mutahi Kihiga to the event. This could be due to the reason that he is a close and political ally to former deputy Rigathi Gachagua. Kahiga has also been vocal and revealed that the people of Mt. Kenya will never support President William Ruto ever again after what he did to Gachagua.
Kahiga insisted that he should be given early notice of any public event that is to be held in his country “Recently I saw that the Deputy President Kindiki had toured Nyeri. There are some people who just want to cause trouble for nothing. The Governor’s Office that I occupy is one that is voted for by the people. It is necessary that when such a visitor is coming into the county, we are given a notice,” Kahiga said.
He went on to add that whenever they are called to attend an event in Nairobi, he always goes, “Offices need to give each other proper respect. When they call me for a meeting in Nairobi, don’t you see me going? County and national governments have one duty to Kenyans, who are mainly concerned with development,” the governor said.
