MP Osoro – Raila Made Unreasonable Demands

The Azimio leader Raila Odinga made demands that couldn’t be met, according to South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.

The lawmaker contends that Raila’s demands are unclear and that they cannot be met.

“There is a statement made by Hon. Raila that needs to be revisited. He made a few requests that must be sorted out, but I must admit that some of them are unclear and unsatisfiable. You’ve heard him say at rallies that “we are telling Ruto to open servers,” but opening servers is not something that the bipartisan committee is authorized to do. He continued by saying that these demands give the opposition coalition the appearance that they are unsure of what they want. Osoro, the majority whip for the National Assembly, stated that the bipartisan committee’s recommendations would be used to find a solution to some of the demands.

In response to President William Ruto’s appeal for a ceasefire on Sunday, Raila outlined requirements to enable for negotiations between the opposition and the government. Raila demanded the dismissal of the legal proceedings against supporters of Azimio related to the protests as well as the immediate release of those detained as a result of holding peaceful protests.

At the same time, Raila emphasized the need for conversations to move quickly and get started.

“We oppose the sacrifice of the four commissioners who voiced their opposition. We want those commissioners back in place so that we can move forward as a nation in a unified manner “said he.

Ruto had permitted the participation of lawmakers from Azimio in the selection of IEBC commissioners.
