Global Fund Urges Kenya to Mobilize Funds for Combating HIV

The Global Fund has urged Kenya to join a full force to support their primary agenda which is to in raise funds that help in combating HIV, Tuberculosis and malaria. Via a letter directed to Prime Cabinet Musalia Mudavadi’s office, the Global Fund has appealed to Kenya’s Head of State President William Ruto to use his extended network to realize the mission.

The Fund’s Executive Director Peter Sands expressed confidence that Kenya can achieve the mission, which he believes to be of great significant to millions of beneficiaries.

“With your commitment and the leadership of President Ruto, I am confident you can deliver a successful Eighth Replenishment,” he said while also emphasizing on the importance of equipping African nations with preventive mechanisms to curb the rate of HIV, TB and malaria.

Revealing the Global Fund’s full commitment to support Kenya’s Universal Health Care Coverage (UHC) programe, rolled out by the Kenya Kwanza government, Sands also acknowledged the 20-year partnership between Kenya and the Global Fund, citing that the latter has invested over Ksh.300 billion in Kenya.

Sands added that it would be an unthinkable tragedy to see all the progress the latter has made stalling, revealing the need for it to keeping going.
