“And Then Dad Organizes Maandamano And Everything Is Destroyed”, Netizens React To Winnie Odinga’s Proposal On Making Nairobi City Neat

Winnie Odinga has taken a bold step to educate the Nairobi County administration on the proper ways of keeping the city neat all the time.

On Monday, the vocal daughter to Azimio La Umoja coalition’s leader, Raila Odinga, shared a tweet that highlighted the possible ways that the County government and municipality can practice in order to give Nairobi city a conducive environment as well as a new face.

Winnie suggested that Nairobi County administration should run a ” Clean up your city” campaign that would involve a series of practices that would aid in fully attaining a neat city. According to her, the administration should hire several boys from Gikomba to weld and paint metal bins which would later be placed on every road in the City. Later on, the residents should be imparted with knowledge on how to maintain a clean environment.

Several other practices as stated by the politician’s daughter include: hiring boys to clean up the drainage, insisting that the passengers vehicles have litter bins, hire inspection officers, come up with a fine for litterers and finally have the municipality trucks to collect the litter everyday at 3:00a.m.

In her view, the campaign will create job opportunities as well as make the city’s environment more conducive. She concluded by advising the Nairobi County administration which is headed by Governor Johnson Sakaja to “just start something…”

As a section of netizens supported the idea, some thought that the campaign was totally impossible due to insecurities faced around the city. These are some of the reactions:

Finney Israel termed the project as simple before hinting on the possible corruption that can be involved in such a campaign.

Alex Chege said:…and then dad organizes maandamano and everything is destroyed.

KC lamented on metallic theft witnessed around the city adding that the metallic bins won’t be an exception.

@ndut’z supported Winnie’s idea.
