Hassan Joho, the cabinet secretary for mining and the blue economy, now claims that joining President William Ruto’s Cabinet does not mean the betrayal of Kenyans.
Joho clarified in an interview with Obinna TV on Monday that his appointment was a good move because it enabled him to make a meaningful contribution to the government’s efforts.”I don’t think we betrayed anybody. There are two options in politics. The first is to hold the government accountable, as the opposition does, and the second is to create change from the inside. So, there is no betrayal. What matters is what we are able to do now because we have been given the opportunity,” he added.
The former Mombasa governor joined the government after the Gen Z took to the streets to protest against the goveetnment. However, in a bid to calm down the situation in the country, Ruto opted to have talks with Raila Odinga and gave him a share of the cabinet. Joho has now turned to being a defender of Ruto.
