President William Ruto has cautioned the newly sworn-in Inspector General, Douglaz Kanja, to protect the police service from manipulation, intimidation, and blackmail by external factors.
Speaking during the swearing-in of the IG, Ruto mentioned that Kanja has the required expertise to drive the police service forward, enabling it to enforce law and order across the entire country and serve all Kenyans.
“You (Douglaz Kanja) have the responsibility, as the Commander, to protect the National Police Service (NPS) from any form of manipulation, intimidation, or blackmail and to ensure that we all respect the laws of the land, regardless of status or entitlement. We are all equal before the law. Make the law work for all citizens,” said Ruto.
Kanja will take over from Acting IG Gilbert Masengeli, who served for three months.
