Narc Party Leader Martha Karua has criticized the government and the Ministry of Education for their lack of proactivity in pursuing justice against the owners and managers of Hillside Indarasha Academy, where 21 pupils tragically died in a fire.
Martha Karua stated that the owners and managers should have been detained to face charges of negligence regarding the children’s safety.
“The owners of the school should have already been arraigned in court for criminal negligence. This is the only way to push for accountability and raise standards for all schools and caregivers,” said Karua.
Despite government promises of thorough investigations, the parents of the victims say they have not seen any justice and remain in deep anguish as they search for their missing loved ones, while others are grieving in hospitals and morgues.
Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, in a statement, reassured the parents that all the children belonging to the school have been accounted for.
