President William Ruto has said they have not agreed with ODM to form a coalition, highlighting that they have only agreed to work together on other matters that unite Kenyans. Ruto made this statement as he began to address various political experts who had suggested that the president was already in a coalition with Azimio to form the Government of National Unity, as he had indicated earlier.
“We have not agreed to form a new coalition with ODM. We have only agreed on issues that will benefit both sides. We have not signed any coalition agreement,” Ruto said.
This comes even as President William Ruto nominated five ODM members to join his cabinet and serve as cabinet secretaries in various ministries, following the deadly anti-government protests that nearly destabilized the government. The cabinet secretaries who were picked include Ali Haasan Joho,Opiyo Wandayi, John Mbadi and Wycliffe Oparanya.
On his part, Raila Odinga stated that the government was overwhelmed with governance issues, which is why they agreed to let their experts assist Ruto in managing the duties across various ministries.
Ruto emphasized that his aim was to unite the country and bring together people from all regions to serve the nation as part of his broader agenda of transforming the country and listening to all Kenyans.
