Suspected Al-Shabaab Attack Kills 12 in Elwak

A suspected terrorist attack by Al-Shabaab in Elwak Town, Mandera County, resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and left several others injured. The incident occurred on April 29, when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated near the Administrative Police (AP) post in the town’s Central Business District.

The attack has been attributed to the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab, although no official statement has been released yet. The area is known for its gathering of non-locals seeking manual jobs, making the attack particularly devastating for the local community. Authorities have cordoned off the town and are treating the incident as an act of terror.
