Davido Hints On Taking Legal Recourse Against K24 Over April Fool’s Day Prank

After a fictitious report claiming that he was arrested on April Fool’s Day for possessing illegal drugs was published by a well-known Kenyan media outlet, Nigerian megastar, Davido, has disclosed his next course of action.

On Monday, K24 published a stunt report alleging that the directorate of criminal investigation had arrested the Nigerian artist after narcotics were discovered in his private jet. The post went viral on social media which led to Davido reacting promptly. He said that he was inundated with calls from people asking him about his circumstance.

The DCI set the record straight by sharing a screenshot of the report as they stamped it as fake news. The aforementioned media outlet also disseminated an additional report asserting that the news was merely an April Fool’s joke.

With reference to K24’s report, the musician expressed his frustration in a statement posted on his Instagram stories on Tuesday. He refuted any accusations that he was a part of any illicit transactions. Davido assured his fans that he was safe and the reports were entirely untrue.

The performer went on to say that throughout his career, he had traveled to many nations and had never been arrested. He announced that he would sue the media outlet for disseminating false information.

“Fam, it has come to my attention that false reports regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls. I want to assure my fans that these re- ports are entirely untrue. I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since re- turned home to Nigeria. I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career. I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinfor- mation. Thank you for your continued support. Our blessings are from God. I love you all,” Davido stated.
