In a pivotal turning point, Dr King’ori attended a comedy competition at Safari Park, hoping to gain insights into the world of stand-up comedy. He embarked on a grueling journey from Dandora to the venue, driven by his unwavering determination. To his amazement, he had the opportunity to perform alongside JB Masanduku, emerging as one of the winners among ten competing groups.
“I can tell you that I don’t have enough words to explain how desperate that situation was and what that situation meant waking up and going one more time,” King’ori recalled.
“That decision is what marked every other phone call I’ve ever gotten,” he said.
This triumph provided him with the much-needed encouragement to continue pursuing his dreams.
Convincing His Mother
Despite achieving significant milestones in his comedy career, such as being featured in a prominent newspaper, it took time for Dr King’ori to convince his mother of his success. However, a year later, he received an unexpected call from her, expressing her pride after witnessing him in a promotion by NTV.
“So my mom calls me because she is at a shop trying to convince the shopkeeper that the person on the poster at her at his door the person on the billboard is her son. So my mom wanted me to come to her defense,” he recalled.
She enthusiastically confirmed to her friends that the talented comedian on screen was indeed her son, proudly embracing the title of “Dr King’ori’s mother.”
