21-more bodies have been exhumed from Shakahola Forest in Kilifi as the second phase of the exercise kicked off on Tuesday, 9 May, 2023. The tally of the dead bodies already recovered from the forest have skyrocketed to 133.
Still addressing the same issue, interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki maintained that the government is all out to use every available resource to uproot exact occurrence at Shakahola and their causative agents.
Kindiki however, emphasized on the use of drones to comb the vast forest linked to controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie. He added that security agencies operating within the forest will therefore limit the use of aircraft and instead major on use of drones.
On the other hand, most recent report by the Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha, revealed that 566 people have been reported missing by their loved ones, who suspects they could be among the dead bodies being exhumed in the Shakahola operation.
At the moment this is happening, DNA samples have been collected from 93-families out of which, 14-people have been reunited with their kinsmen.
According to the commissioner, two more people were rescued on Tuesday 9, bringing the tally to 68.
