Former Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugine Wamalwa on Sunday, April 2, 2023, attested that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition has refrained from politicking in churches amidst heightened outcry from different entities for politicians to stop playing politics in worship places.
While addressing the congregation during a church service in Ruiru, Wamalwa urged President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp to stop playing politics in churches as he reiterated that Azimio will always do the needful; when it comes to church attendance.
“Sisi tukikuja kwa kanisa hatuongei siasa, tunaomba na tunaondoka. Ujumbe huo pia ufikie wenzetu wa upande ule mwingine” Wamalwa said while.
The church service was attended by a section of the Azimio leaders including Martha Karua, wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni. The leaders were very keen on preaching peace and advocating for an amicable way to neutralize the current political heat ion the country.
Karua noted the only way to calm down the demonstrations was for the government and the opposition to have amicable talks and reach a mutual agreement.
“Whenever there is a conflict between two parties, the aggrieved parties achieve peace when they hold talks and reach a mutual agreement. This country belongs to everyone, no one has the right to exit the other, once we realize that everyone will respect the other.”She said.
Kalonzo also affirmed that the coalition would find a peaceful way of handling the current disputes.
