Raila Reprimands IG Koome For Threats To Arrest Him

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio, has warned Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome that he will show up on Monday to lead the opposition protests.

Speaking at the JTM church in Embakasi, Koome was warned by the opposition leader not to intimidate him with arrest threats. Raila urged Koome to stop his threats and meet face to face with him instead of sending his juniors to the front lines.

Although authorities prohibiting them as illegal, Raila declared that his demonstrations against President William Ruto’s government would continue.

“We shall lose our country if we don’t safeguard the rights and liberties of Kenyans,” he said.

When he cracks down on demonstrators on Monday, Koome has previously told the press that he will not spare any political leader. Also, he instructed Raila to confront him rather than bother his regional commander for Nairobi, Adamson Bungei.

When detaining demonstrators in the streets, the IG declared on Sunday that police will treat everyone equally. Speaking to the media, Koome declared that when dealing with demonstrators, neither he nor his commanders would give a damn about anyone’s socioeconomic standing.

The IG’s comments appeared to be directed at Raila, Wiper CEO Kalonzo Musyoka, and Narc Kenya head Martha Karua, among other important Azimio figures.
