Kiss TV Shuts down Rarely One Year After Relaunching

Kiss TV has announced its shut down after being on air for less than one year from the time it was relaunched.
In the memo shared on Friday by the station’s Chief Operation Officer, Martin Khafafa, it was stated that the Radio Africa owned TV station failed to generate revenue and this was the remain reason for the shutdown.

Khafafa thanked the station’s staffs for their efforts and co-operation in the station’s brand growth.

“As you may be aware our department has been unable to generate revenue despite the effort of everyone involved to turn the station around Consequently, we will be shutting down the station today 17th March. All affected staff will be duly informed on the handover process by the HR team,” the internal memo read.

After Kiss TV was rebranded, it started airing fresh new programmes which were meant to captivate and attract more audiences.

During the relaunching in 2022, the station held a beautiful event in which top talents in the media industry lined up to mark a great beginning.

It brought on board renown media personalities like Kamene Goro, Charlie Karumi, Lotan, Quellie Odero, Kym Nickdee, Bill Mbote and Joe Saina.

However, Charlie Karumi relocated to Canada in 2022 whereas Kamene was fired earlier this year.

Before Kiss TV relaunched in 2022, it had been rebranded in 2020 in order to get a new face.

The year 2022 marked the second relaunch as the station had also been relaunched in 2013 which was exactly four years after it was launched.

All the rebranding and re-launching was always meant to increase the station’s revenue stream as it continued to cope with the new trend in the media industry.

Last year December, Radio Africa CEO, Patrick Quarcoo, had sent an internal memo which noted that some employees would be declared “redundant” due to shift in business model in the industry.
