2022 KCSE Breakdown: Number of Candidates With Direct Entry to Public Universities

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has just released the 2022 KCSE results on January 20, 2023.

As expected, all the candidates who sat for the National Examination countrywide are currently on their gadgets to confirm what their sweats have translated to at the end of the day.

This piece however, presents a breakdown of KCSE grades versus the number of candidates enshrined within a particular category of grading.

1,146 candidates attained an A grade. On the other hand, a total of 6,407 candidates managed to get A- (Minus) out of which 1,962 were females and 4,445 are males.

15,682 of the candidates have managed B+ (Plus) candidates. 6,104 of them are females and 9,578 are males.

For grade B (Plain), there is a total of 31,303 candidates out of which 13,520 are females and 17,783 are males.

Category of B- (Minus) contains 48,719 candidates out of which 21,474 are female and 27,245 are males.

C+ (Plus) category has 70,088 candidates. 33,138 of them are females and 36,950 are males. This gives a total of 173, 345 candidates who have gained direct entry into public universities in the country.

In addition, 190 candidates with special needs obtained an overall grade of C + (Plus) and above adding to that figure that has gained public university’s direct entry.
