IEBC is currently evaluating the general election on August 9. The Post Election Evaluation (PEE) project aims to gather opinions on how to improve the electoral process from stakeholders and development partners.
The Commission states that its conclusions and suggestions will be included in the strategic plan that will direct the operation plan for the elections from 2022 to 2027.
The event, according to the Commission, “seeks to document experiences and evaluate lessons learned from the 2022 general election, purpose areas for improvement to guide future policy direction and strategic planning, along with identifying important priority areas for funding.”
Obadia Keitany, the deputy chief executive officer, said they appreciated the help in making sure they fulfilled their purpose when they met with a group of development partners on Tuesday.
“The Post Election Evaluation is not only a best practice recognized worldwide, but is also rooted in the Constitution as the primary responsibility of the IEBC… According to Guliye, the Commission is required by Article 88 (4)(h) to promote election observation, monitoring, and evaluation.
According to Guliye, preparations for the 2022 election began in 2017.
