Nairobi Performing Arts Studio in partnership with RMS has presented Ngugi Wa Thiong’o’s “I Will Marry When I Want” performance at Kenya National Theatre from 6th October,2022 to 16th October,2022 ,an opportunity termed as the last one before the book is gone forever.
Both Kikuyu and English presentations will be be done at different performances on different dates.
I’ll Marry When I Want is coming to the Kenya National Theatre stage for the first time ever, over 40years after it was written.
Banned when it was first presented, this iconic play was a milestone in Kenyan literature.This is a performance that also led to Ngugi Wa Thiong’o’s detention for a year without trial by the Kenyan Government.
The performances will feature a number of iconic people in the film and theatre arena including the award-winning director and producers of Sarafina, Grease, and Jesus ChristSuperstar ,Martin Githinji, Angel Wairimu, Nice Githinjiand Annestella.
