Uasin Gishu County Women Representative elect, Glady Boss Shollei has been declared the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
Boss Shollei who had been fronted for the seat under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance ticket carried the win with 198 votes out of the total casted 337 votes.
She was running in a tight battle against Azimio-One Kenya candidate and Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim who conceded defeat after the first round of voting after Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo withdrew from the race as confirmed by the National Assembly ‘acting’ Clerk, Serah Kioko.
“Congratulations to all elected Honourable Members of the National Assembly. I humbly request for your support as I seek the Office of Deputy Speaker. I pledge to work with all to deliver an efficient 13th Parliament. Your support is critical and will be highly appreciated.” Shollei said.
Shollei has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Council for Law Reporting and was a deputy chief election officer of the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) between 2010 and 2011. She then served as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary until 2013 and later elected as the Uasin Gishu women representative in 2017 and 2022 under Jubilee and Kenya Kwanza ticket respectively.
